1. Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer

Beat the softened cream cheese in a large bowl until smooth.

Add the icing sugar and vanilla extract; mix until combined.

Pour in the double cream and whip until the mixture becomes thick, smooth, and creamy.

Spread this mixture evenly into a glass dish.

Place it in the fridge for 20–30 minutes to firm up slightly.
2. Make the Chocolate Topping

Melt the chocolate and cream together using a microwave or a saucepan over low heat.

Stir until smooth. If using, add the butter for a glossy finish.

Allow the mixture to cool for 5 minutes so it does not melt the cream cheese layer.
3. Assemble

Pour the slightly cooled chocolate mixture over the chilled cream cheese base.

Smooth the top gently.

Refrigerate for at least 3 hours, preferably overnight, until fully set.
Serving
Cut into slices and serve cold.
It keeps well in the fridge for 3–4 days.
