Easiest Ever Cinnamon Rolls

For the Cinnamon Rolls:

1 packet (or 2 1/2 tsp) active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1/4 cup powdered milk or buttermilk
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar, divided
1/4 cup cooking oil (vegetable or canola oil works best)
1 large egg
4 cups self-rising flour
1/2 – 1 stick butter, room temperature
3 tsp ground cinnamon
3/4 cup finely chopped pecans (optional, but highly recommended for a bit of crunch)

For the Confectioner’s Sugar Glaze:

2 cups sifted confectioners’ sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
3-4 tsp warm water (adjust as needed to achieve the right consistency)

How to Make Easiest Ever Cinnamon Rolls
Step 1: Activate the Yeast

Start by dissolving the yeast in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to make sure the yeast is fully dissolved and activated. This step is essential as it ensures your dough will rise properly.
Step 2: Combine Wet Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the activated yeast mixture with powdered milk (or buttermilk, depending on your preference), 1/2 cup of sugar, cooking oil, and the egg. Stir everything together to form a smooth mixture.
Step 3: Gradually Add Flour

Slowly add 1 1/2 cups of flour to the mixture, stirring until the dough starts coming together. Then, gradually add another 2 to 2 1/2 cups of flour, a little at a time, until the dough reaches a workable consistency that’s soft but not sticky. You may not need the full 4 cups of flour, so add it bit by bit. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let the dough rest for about 5 minutes.
Step 4: Knead the Dough
