Here’s a super easy, no-chemical trick to clean your oven door glass—works even on brown, baked-on grease.
A Simple Trick to Clean Oven Door Glass
Use Baking Soda + Water Paste (No Scrubbing Hard!)
What You Need
-
Baking soda
-
Water
-
A small bowl
-
A soft cloth or sponge
Instructions
1. Make a paste
Mix ½ cup baking soda with a few tablespoons of water until it forms a spreadable paste—think toothpaste consistency.
2. Spread it on the oven glass
Smear the paste evenly over the inside of the oven door glass.
(It will sit on the grime and begin breaking it down.)
3. Let it sit 20–30 minutes
The paste will lift grease and baked-on residue without harsh chemicals.
4. Wipe clean
Use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe the glass.
Most of the grime will come off easily.
5. Finish with a shine
Wipe again with a clean wet cloth to remove residue, then dry with a microfiber cloth.
Bonus Trick for Stubborn Spots
Use a razor scraper (the kind made for glass stovetops):
-
Hold it at a 45° angle.
-
Gently scrape softened gunk AFTER the baking-soda soak.
-
Wipe clean again.
(This is safe as long as you use a sharp razor and keep it at an angle.)
Want the inside of the double-pane glass clean?
That requires removing a few screws from the oven door (easier than it sounds). I can walk you through that too—just tell me your oven brand/model.
